The 1-Hour Blog Set-up
We recently wrote a post called, “Stupid Simple 3-Step Guide to Launch Your Blog,” but even that didn’t accurately demonstrate how easy it really was. That is the main intent of THIS post – it really is SO MUCH EASIER than you think.
Did we mention how easy this is?
Well – when you have the right tools that is.
Yes, there are a whole lot of DOs & DON’Ts, must-have widgets & plug-ins and, not to mention, expensive services to add to your blog. But if you don’t set it up for success from the very beginning, all these extras are superfluous. Ask any blogger and they’ll tell you that success starts with the right framework and by framework we mean theme. Well-developed themes give you the opportunity to build on a solid foundation and the REALLY good ones tell you exactly how to do it.
A quick side note for our tribe: We are all about mutually beneficial relationships here at the Newlymoms. So naturally, this article may contain affiliate links. This means that if you were to use the links provided and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission (at no additional cost to you). We only promote products we use, love, and/or fully support — it’s a win, win, win! If you have any questions about what we use, love and/or support, please reach out to us via our contact page.
If you’re reading this article, chances are:
- You’ve already decided to start a blog (if not, head over to our article “5 Reasons this Generation Needs Your Voice“)
AND
- You already have your hosting & domain setup (if you don’t, head on over to Bluehost and get started for a super low price!).
Once you have that covered, it’s time to set up your theme. We initially thought this was going to be extremely time-consuming – We pictured this massive learning curve and thus, kept putting the setup part off and off and off again.
Then one day Niki discovered Sugar+Code. Jessica’s (Sugar + Code’s creator) themes are drop-dead gorgeous & couldn’t make your setup any easier – seriously. Not to mention totally customizable & fairly priced. She takes you step-by-step through each feature, adds screenshots where necessary and gives you the opportunity to add the ever-popular “extras” in there as well. Our original theme was a Sugar+Code original and I wouldn’t have chosen any other for our setup. She created all the themes herself and personally answers all your SOS emails.
Here are some awesome examples of her work:
