So today I discovered 1 problem I never thought I’d encounter – the new mom bathing suit.

I call it “the NEW mom suit” because OG moms have had the time, finances and tribal support to develop their own unique style. For us newlymoms – it is not so. I’ll admit that the concept of rediscovering my personal style (beyond spit-up stains & whatever’s comfortable – not to mention, whatever fits) has been on my mind for a few months now – but not bathing suits. Seems kind of ridiculous in hindsight – I do live in Southern California. But, oddly enough, I didn’t consider it until my mom brought up taking Kaiden in the pool for the first time. Yes – HE would look ADORABLE in his sea creature swim diaper, but what would I look like? How would I feel? I’m imagining somewhere in between my old pre-pregnancy chic and my future supermom style – aka extra-chic (sidenote: I’m not even really sure what “chic” means – I just know it’s used to describe style a lot).

So – what does a newlymom style look like? I’m still figuring that out. BUT – as for a newlymom swimsuit … alas! I have the answer. The “oh, I just threw this on – but still look fly, ‘cause you can’t see any of my leftover rollypollys this is hiding” one-piece. Because – let’s be real – in NO WAY is this body 2-piece ready. And, even if it were, I’m not sure showing that much skin with a little guy attached to my left-side is kosher for me at this point anyway.
