If you’ve read our post – A Path to Pain-Free Natural Childbirth: The First Step – you know where to start when it comes to your personal supernatural journey. But once you understand the basis for what you believe, what comes next?

I’m glad you asked …

Renewing Your Mind

Many times on our faith journey, there comes a point where we know what we believe but have yet to experience the inner transformation that’s promised to accompany the truth. You know, the whole “the truth shall set you free,” thing. So how do we fuel that inward transformation where what we believe actually makes us look, feel and act differently? Well, let’s start with Romans 12.

“Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.”

Romans 12:2 (TPT)

Why is this important? Well, it’s important because we often get caught up in our emotions and the enemy attacks us with thoughts like:

  • “Because you don’t feel it, you don’t really believe it”
  • “You’re such a bad believer for feeling this way”
  • “You’re not growing – you’re still getting caught up in x, y & z emotions”
  • “Get over it already, you know the truth says something different”

And on and on it goes. What this does is it gets us all caught up in what we are feeling, as opposed to what we are thinking. But this is not biblical. What Romans 12:2 tell us is that we are transformed through “a total reformation of how we think.” And if all we’re doing is thinking about our emotions, we are not reforming our thoughts. I think it’s time we realized the power of our minds as believers: when we renew our minds, our emotions will follow.

But How?

If you’ve read our post on Power Declarations for Supermoms, you know that we firmly believe in the biblical truth of the power our words hold.

“A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth;
From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Proverbs 18:20-21 (NKJV)

So we are promised in scripture that our words bring life or death. This has wide-ranging implications starting with basic building blocks of life-giving thoughts. So this tells me that a HUGE part of renewing your thought life is changing the way you speak and what you give life to with your words.

YOUR CONFESSIONS

The book Supernatural Childbirth by Jackie Mize outlines your responsibility in making confessions as follows:

“You need to make your confessions out loud first to yourself (and to your husband if he is in agreement) because faith comes by hearing. Second, confess it to God because you are reminding Him, as well as yourself, what He has said in His Word. And then third, tell the devil, because you certainly want him to know where you stand and that you’re not going to budge an inch. No one else needs to know.”

When you make your confessions to God Himself, you’re not really reminding God of His promises. He’s never forgotten them. You’re showing your dad how much you value and stand on what He has said. And clinging to what He’s said warms His Papa heart like nothing else.

My husband and I think of step #3 more as an all-encompassing declaration to the spirit realm – not so much to devil himself . He doesn’t deserve to be addressed directly, in our opinion. But the same concept still applies. Another way to think about it is that our words, when we speak with Holy Spirit, become spirit and directing that spirit into the spiritual realm changes things. So aligning our words (which become spirit), with God’s word (Jesus) puts us in the most powerful place one can be in the spiritual realm – at the right hand of the throne of God. Go ahead. Tell the natural and spiritual realm that you’re standing on the promises of the God of the Universe and you will not settle for anything less than the complete fulfillment of His promises. Now, that’s power if you ask me.

Expect your faith to rise, your mind to be renewed and your emotions to be transformed as you and all of heaven and earth hear your voice declaring God’s truth and promises like you mean it.

If you need a place to start in developing your own confessions, check out the follow-up book by Jackie Mize – Prayers & Promises for Supernatural Childbirth.

But remember, what Holy Spirit speaks to you personally is always more powerful for YOU than what he’s spoke to someone else. So be sure to set aside time and listen for what He speaks to you directly. Don’t just take someone else’s word for it.

Happy confessing 🙂
