The Struggle

One of our biggest struggles with starting a blog were the negative voices that popped up. If you’re considering starting a blog – or anything that gives you a platform to share your experiences with the world, for that matter – you’ve probably heard something along the following lines:

…There are so many experts out there – who is going to believe YOU?

…People have been doing this for YEARS. What makes you think you can just JUMP IN?

…Out of all the content out there, what makes YOURS any different?

…The competition is fierce – you’ll never catch up.

…Who is going to want to read what YOU write over what anyone else writes?

Well, my response to these questions would be this quote:

Basically, this means that you were made to achieve! You were made to succeed! You were made to influence! And you have something to offer that no one else can! Anything that tries to tell you different is a LIE that’s trying to hold you back!

1. YOUR experience is unlike anyone else’s.

This means that even if you live through a similar CIRCUMSTANCE as someone else, your EXPERIENCE is entirely different. Furthermore, the insight that comes from your experience is 100% unique and if you don’t talk about it, no one else can relate to or benefit from it.

2. There are people in this world only YOU can connect with.

In other words, one person can read 2 blog posts written by 2 different
people on the EXACT SAME TOPIC, and relate to one and not the other. Simply put, our uniqueness resonates with certain people and not with others. Every voice is needed.

3. We were made for deep, authentic connection.

These connections that we make, even if only for a moment, fuel us. We are beings created for relationship. And we rob ourselves of the opportunity for relationships when keep our lives to ourselves. We must be vulnerable to open the door for this type of real, raw & ultimately irreplaceable connection.

4. You were put into THIS generation for purpose, not by accident.

 

So there’s something only YOU can release that was intended for THIS specific TIME. You have YOUR passions, YOUR dreams, YOUR desires for a purpose – and that purpose is to influence the world around you. Don’t underestimate the things that get you out of bed in the morning, the things that get you thinking, the things that set your heart on fire.

 

5. Sometimes you don’t know how valuable you truly are until you share what you have.

More often than not, it takes changing someone else’s life to really change yours. You never know who needs to hear what you’re going through in order to overcome what they’re going through – or even just to know that they’re not alone. It’s mutually transformative – impacting someone else, impacts you.

Sharing YOUR story doesn’t mean it has to be better than anyone else’s. It just has to be YOURS. Changing your mindset to see collaboration where the world sees competition means you no longer have to fight to be seen. It means we’re all better together. So here’s to collaboration!
